This is a curiosity. Originally a gold covered early Victorian or late Georgian watch chain fob terminating in a good violet amethyst, unengraved and ready to receive initials or a crest, it has been later adapted with a second end at the 'top'. This end is a gold flat plate into which has been engraved the profile of a prancing unicorn. I can only asssume this means a great deal to someone. I have no real clue when this was done, but it is certainly much later than the original fob.
So this double-ended fob has two attachment rings, a new one with the unicorn and the original on a rotating collar, making a very versatile suspension/pendant. All you need is a chain, and guess what? I have those too.
It measures approx 21mm long
