20thC Charles Horner Sterling Silver medium length hat pin with 'pearl' drop design
A classic Charles Horner designed steel shaft and silver terminal hat pin. This one measures about 61/2" and the silver is marked on the ring to the top "CH" and Sterling. This is a design you see throughout the Horner collection, and hat pins featuring this "pearl" drop in both silver and gold are not uncommon. Some are fully hallmarked, while other batches were marked as this one, probably depending on retail demand. This example post-dates the opening of the Halifax factory in 1905 and was probably made sometime between 1910 and 1920. It is in good condition with just a few black pit marks showing in the steel shaft, but otherwise exemplary.
