Code: 3359CFN
Dimensions:
A matching pair of large, rectangular Victorian green glass square-section ribbed chemist’s or apothecary poison bottles measuring approx 7.5" to the top of the stopper (or roughly 5.5" to the shoulder).
These are unlabelled blanks, dating from around 1880-1910, and they look amazing on a window sill, or with a light behind them.
Each bottle is complete with its original ground glass 'decanter' stopper.
This matching set is in really fine condition, free of cracks, chips and flea-bites. They are marked "20" on the base indicating their capacity (20floz: a pint). They also have a squiggle mark that may be a manufacturer but they are not named. High-end pharmacy outlets such as H Poths & Co of London frequently ordered their bespoke glass supplies from a number of glass blowers.
Note: The vertical ribbing on three sides was designed specifically to prevent accidental poisonings. In the dark the ribbing would be an obvious warning of danger
