This Chinese gilt wood Buddha statue is hand-carved from solid wood. It is a seated Shakyamuni figure in Ming Dynasty style, seated in a meditative Dhyana Mudra pose on a double-lotus pedestal. The gilt-lacquer finish has aged beautifully, revealing a rich red lacquer underlay. It has an authentic patina and radiates spiritual tranquility. In the back ia space for a devotional script or gift, sealed with a closed 'door' which I have not opened, so have no idea what is inside, if anything

This is an engaging Zen style home altar piece. It displays classic iconography, including the symbolic blue hair curls and peaceful downcast eyes. Whether used as a contemplative centrepiece or a high-value interior design feature, this Oriental lacquered wood sculpture embodies serene elegance.
