FH Ayres made rocking horses between approximately 1880 and 1940. This is one of theirs and an example in absolutely fabulous condition. The frame is stamped for the retailers "Barkers of Kensington" which was a huge and influential department store in Kensington High Street, along the lines of Harrods, and similar in that it sold only premium quality goods.
Grace, as I call this lovely horse, measures about 44" long and 38½" tall. The leather work is all first class and really you will struggle to find one in as good condition anywhere.
