A rare opportunity to buy this infrequently seen adjustable shooting seat. It was first promoted, I believe, in the 1927 Hardy's catalogue. A Google search will show example pages (that are sadly not uploadable to the website).
The tripod legs make for a very stable seat, and they lock 'open' using the large round knurled nut. The up and down height is adjusted by releasing and tightening the lever on the side. Both the mechanisms work well. The seat is aluminium and in fine fettle.
The only issues are the leather 'tie' for the legs is lacking and there is some denting on the end of the seat's main tube. Other than that this piece is as made and in excellent used condition. The seat rotates freely, even when the height and stability mecahisms are locked, so that a shot, or perhaps more acceptably a bird watcher can spin to keep their target in sight.
As a slight aside, during the course of my investigations I found out that this model of seat is as used by His Majesty King Charles, most likely when he was HRH Prince of Wales.
