A pair of probably Benjarong large decorative ceramic urns and covers, showing buddhas against a profuse floral ground, with guards, heightened in gilt, each with four lion mask handles and foo dog finials. They are densely decorated with copious amounts of colour showing floral, plant and flame motifs separated by gilt brush work.
They are not of any great age, and condition is A1 with no faults detected. They are unmarked/unsigned.
Benjarong originated in China during the Ming dynasty (14-17thC) where it was favoured and ordered by Thai royalty. Making these pieces requires immense patience and skill, and you have only to look at the decoration on this fine pair to acknowledge that.
Given their size and nature, delivery is not included and I would not be able to despatch these other than by courier. You are of course welcome to collect from the shop, or send your own carrier.
