This tripod stool is in fabulous condition. It has a pine seat raised on beech legs that splay outwards, wider than the seat. The dimensions given include the splay of the legs.
It dates from around 1850 and is probably an occasional stool used around a farmhouse, perhaps in the kitchen or near the fire. It may even be a milking stool although they tend to be round. Whatever its purpose it is strong and, being three-legged, extremely stable. It would now make a fabulous interior piece and will last for years.
