This mid Victorian brooch is made in a mix of materials, including gold and black enamel. The wording In Memory Of need no further explanation. Although the brooch is vacant now, it would have held a keepsake of someone much loved, most likely a braid of their hair. Perhaps its an advantage that the contents have long-gone and whoever gets this charming piece will be able to put something of special importance to them inside and keep it safe and close.
The brooch has a lovely safety chain and pin, the latter marked 9ct.
Condition: the black enamel is free of chipping and the glass is intact, and the safety chain and pin as well as the brooch pin are all original fittings. Overall a nice piece in good condition.
