A very fine antique boat builder's half-hull model on a mahogany mount for the vessel Lochee. The name is picked out in gold paint on the bow, along with other restrained detail of rope ports etc.
This really is a very fine example of the boat builder's model, and the purchaser will also receive a print out of the full history of the ship as well as an image of her (in S Australia).
She was built by Alexander Stephen & Sons of Dundee and launched in August 1874 as a four masted passenger/cargo ship.
In 1882 she set a sailing vessel record, that she still holds, of plying from Calcutta to Dundee in just 90 days.
There is more detail in the print-out, but she had a long working life until November 1929.
She would suit collectors of maritime antiques, model boats or ships, and is a lovely handcrafted wall piece of art for display
