This colourful, highly decorative oil on board is by Jan Merrick Horn, b 1948. Horn is a British Artist painting mainly in Cornwall. He specialises in evocative still life, and coastal landscapes (mainly of Cornwall). He renders everyday objects with precision and a keen eye for detail and composition. Horn works in rich textures and the interplay of light on his subject, capturing a depth of accuracy and subtlety. No matter how close you get, this pair of fish still look like fresh mackerel.
