Steve Camps (b.1957, Cornwall) is an artist in the finest Cornish naïve tradition. He spent most of his life as a builder until retirement when he turned full-time to painting. The reaction was almost instant. To call him a phenomenon is probably understating his appeal. He has proved to be a sound investment for those who bought early and his work now sells in the £000s and his art is increasingly sought by dealers as well as collectors. His pieces delight and amuse and his works, based on a deep understanding fostered by a lifetime of collecting and studying naive art, bring a joyful smile.

This painting is apparently called: Is That You Moby Dick? It is recently created and is an oil on board, and it includes the 'holy trinity' of Camps themes: the whale, a ship and a lighthouse.
The artist has signed the work and finished it off by setting it in a white painted frame.

Dealers note: you are not just buying a painting of whales, you are buying into a specific movement of contemporary Cornish naive or folk art, and this in an investment in an artist who is trending and whose value is still rising. And if you like art that is vibrant, funny and could equally sit in a kitchen or on a gallery wall then this artwork and its witty story-telling is a top choice
