Steve Camps (b 1957) is an artist based in Cornwall. This is a recent work: "Sitting Pretty"

He paints in the established and very popular naive manner of Alfred Wallis, Fred Yates etc. Much more can be found about Camps on the internet, and he is represented by a gallery in Falmouth. His paintings entertain and amuse, and have become incredibly popular. They sell very quickly. These are the first I have had in stock for more than a year, having had several since he began his new career.

This small painting is typical of his work, using his favourite motifs of a whale and a ship. It represents the elements that have made him such a hit in today's art world.
This example is signed in the image and dated 2025 on the obverse, with a 'signature' whale outline.
The painting is simply framed, created by the artist himself. He is known for making his own frames, either from scratch or using antique frames he has collected over the years. You should note, there is a little rubbing evident on the prominent surfaces of this frame. It may well be an example of a re-used frame. The other two paintings of his I have appear to be in new frames.
The measurements given here are the outer size, while the image size is approx 4.5cms smaller.
