An Edwardian silver sewing accessory by renowned makers Sampson Mordan, fully hallmarked on the base for Chester 1907, along with the registration number RD475678.
Modelled as a new chick, a hatchling emerging from the egg, this is a correspondingly small piece: see the images which show it next to a 1p piece.
The pad itself has seen better days and has sunk in a little, but I doubt it will be used as a pin cushion anymore and won't see many pins again. However, should you wished to restore it to its former bulging glory then this a good piece at a very reasonable price.
It is a great buy for any silver collector and especially those who like sewing accessories
