In superb condition, this is a really good silver buckle.
Every bit of it is in silver even the bar and prongs, indicating it was probably used on a soft belt, rather than, say, a shoe.
It is very clearly hallmarked, although the makers name is a touch rubbed. It was assayed in London in 1889, and I believe it to be by maker Christopher Jones, even though he worked from an address in Liverpool.
It really is a very strong piece, and would be a lovely addition to any outfit, or a great display item.
