One of the most eagerly anticipated albums and an immediate commercial success, Led Zeppelin III was and remains massive: six million copies sold in the USA alone. Not only was the album complex, mixing rock and folk influences, the sleeve too was very involved and held up release. Finally on 5th October 1970 the album was unleashed on the world. And here is one of those first copies, released by a band on the way to world domination and their place at the very top of the pantheon of rock fame.
Condition is good, the gatefold is tidy and clean and the front 'wheel', know as a volvelle, works. Some of the photos show the different images within the sleeve windows. I'd say the sleeve is VG+. The vinyl is marked, and has audible 'drop-in' crackles that soon fade, and an audible click on A5, but otherwise is a VG play. The vinyl has been cleaned and placed in an extra Audiophile premium anti-static sleeve which now sits within the original paper inner sleeve. The outer sleeve is protected by a plastic album outer.
The runout matrices have been checked and are correct, as are the Alasteir Crowley inscriptions. The Peter Grant credit is present on the label - see relevant images.
This is a very good or better first press and a rare opportunity to get your hands on a 'first edition' of an album that has not only stood the test of time but also sits high if not on top of every top 50 album list.
